For Rapid Precipitation and Concentration. This kit is a simple to follow method for concentrating protein solutions by using a proprietary Universal Protein Precipitation Agent (UPPA) (Patents Pending). Protein solutions as dilute as 1ng/ml can be quantitatively concentrated into a small volume. Protein precipitation is not affected by the presence of detergents, chiaotropics, or other common laboratory agents. The method involves mixing protein solution with UPPA which quantitatively precipitates protein. The precipitate is washed and suspended in a small volume of a precipitate suspension buffer supplied with each kit and then the protein is ready for use. This kit is not suitable for those proteins which may lose their biological activity when precipitated. Recovery is generally 100%.

For running publication quality gels, the protein samples loaded on the gels should ideally have identical buffering conditions. If conditions vary, protein bands may distort during electrophoresis. Proteins containing excessive concentrations of salts, acids, bases and other agents are not suitable for running high quality gels. For dilute protein solutions, the concentration of the protein solution may be necessary before loading on the gels.
