For running publication quality gels, the protein samples loaded on the gels should ideally have identical buffering conditions. If conditions vary, protein bands may distort during electrophoresis. Proteins containing excessive concentrations of salts, acids, bases and other agents are not suitable for running high quality gels. For dilute protein solutions, the concentration of the protein solution may be necessary before loading on the gels.

The PAGE-PerfectTM kit is a simple two step method for concentrating, cleaning and preparing protein solution for loading on gels. Simply treat (1-100ml) protein solution with Universal Protein Precipitation Agent (UPPA) which results in the quantitative precipitation of the protein solution. Protein precipitation is not affected by the presence of detergents, chiaotropics, or other common laboratory agents.

For iso-electric focusing (IEF) and 2D gels, the protein sample must be free from agents such as ionic detergents, metal ions, substrates, substrate analogs, inhibitors, and other charged molecules that may alter the net charge of protein molecules. For large screening projects, samples loaded on gel must be identically treated and be free from interfering agents; otherwise, the results may not be reproducible making interpretation difficult.

The Perfect-FOCUSTM kit provides a method for concentrating, cleaning and preparing protein solution for loading on IEF and 2D gels. Simply treat (1-100m) protein solution with UPPA (Universal Protein Precipitation Agent) which results in the quantitative precipitation of the entire protein in any solution. Protein precipitation is not affected by the presence of detergents, chiaotropics, or other common laboratory agents. The protein precipitate in IEF/2D sample loading buffer and load on gel.
